No More Human Rights Campaign, Please

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) action center and store in Washington, D.C. was vandalized early Wednesday morning by a radical LGBT group that described itself as “rowdy queers.”

The Washington Blade reported that the group splattered pink paint on the store and spray-painted the word “Stonewall” on the sidewalk.

The HRC is the largest LGBT advocacy group and lobbying organization in the United States. It was founded in 1980 and boasts over one million members and supporters.

The vandals called themselves “The Right Honorable Wicked Stepmothers’ Traveling, Drinking and Debating Society and Men’s Auxiliary.”

A press release issued by the group said the store was “a god awful monstrosity” and that the HRC “hordes money and does nothing useful.”

Words of Real Hope From Young Academics

Here is a wonderful e-message that I received from a dear friend. He used to work for the DNC, and in September he is attending a very fancypants graduate school. Very, very fancy. Anyway, he’s a brilliant young academic, and if I ever have a child (i.e., “Jimmy Waggaman” or “Bertha Mason-Waggaman,” haha) I will force him/her to attend the institution where my friend will be teaching, as a Wise Professor. Anyway, here is what he typed to me:

I love Pretzel-Choker’s classic line, “The terrorists hate us because of our Freedumbs,” or whatever. At first I thought this was cockamamie horseshit. However, I recently realized how incredibly accurate this statement is, even though it was projectile-vomited out of a rich, alcoholic coke-head tongue-cave.

Hope Is Not a Predator Drone

Here’s a “thought experiment” for you, one that is not about barbershop deregulation: What is Hope? Apparently we elected It in 2008. I don’t have any Hope for the world, so sadly I can’t answer this question. Here’s what I do know, though: There’s no Hope in a Predator drone. There’s no hope in remote-controlled murder. There’s no Hope in regular murder. There’s no Hope in a NATO air strike or the “War on Terror.” Here is some recent news from Afghanistan, where we are spreading Freedom:
